Truck kills 2 riders, including BJMP member

Two motorcycle riders, including a Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) officer, were killed after a truck allegedly suffered a brake malfunction and rammed into their vehicles in Rodriguez, Rizal, on July 22.
The Rizal Police Provincial Office (Rizal PPO) identified the victims as “Prince” and “Chris,” 31, an active member of BJMP.
Investigators said a Hino truck bus was traveling downhill along Payatas Road–Mayon Avenue in Barangay San Jose at around 1:20 p.m. when its brake system reportedly failed.
The driver lost control, swerved into the opposite lane, and struck two oncoming motorcycles.
Both riders sustained severe injuries. Prince was declared dead on arrival at Ynares Hospital in Rodriguez, while Chris died while undergoing treatment at East Avenue Medical Center in Quezon City.
The truck driver is now under police custody at the Rodriguez Municipal Police Station.
