Nearly 2,300 SPD personnel mobilized for Marcos' SONA

The Southern Police District (SPD) will mobilize nearly 2,300 personnel to secure President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s 2026 State of the Nation Address (SONA).
SPD director Brig. Gen. Glenn Oliver Cinco said the district has finalized comprehensive security preparations covering key government installations, major routes, and strategic areas within its area of responsibility.
Cinco said that under the security plan, 266 personnel will be assigned to secure the Senate of the Philippines in Pasay City, while 21 personnel will be deployed in Makati City.
Another 46 personnel will provide security at the Libingan ng mga Bayani, with 14 members forming medical evacuation teams to respond to emergencies.
He said that to ensure the safe movement of government officials and dignitaries, the SPD will also deploy 39 personnel along the route from the Senate to the House of Representatives in Quezon City and 12 personnel along the route from Makati to the House.
The SPD chief also said the district will intensify anti-criminality and public safety operations by deploying 1,515 personnel throughout Makati, Taguig, Pasay, Parañaque, Muntinlupa, and Pateros before, during, and after the SONA.
As part of heightened security measures, the District Mobile Force Battalion will activate 67 border control points, while 19 observation points will be established in Muntinlupa City and Las Piñas City to monitor possible security threats.
The Regional Support Service Force will augment SPD operations with 200 additional personnel, equally divided between the District Headquarters and the District Mobile Force Battalion.
The district will also be supported by 24 personnel from partner agencies, including the Bureau of Fire Protection, Philippine Coast Guard, Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices, local traffic management units, and concerned local government units to strengthen inter-agency coordination.
Cinco reminded all deployed personnel to remain disciplined, professional, and vigilant while respecting the constitutional rights of the public, including the peaceful exercise of freedom of expression.
