Muntinlupa cops nab 2 for gambling, seize gun and shabu

Two men arrested for illegal gambling are facing more charges after police found an unlicensed firearm and shabu in their possession in Muntinlupa City on July 23.

Muntinlupa police were conducting anti-criminality operations when they saw the suspects playing "cara y cruz" at the corner of Concepcion Road and Manatra Street in Barangay Buli.

They were identified as alias Allan, 39, and alias Antonio, 37, both residents of the barangay.

Police said Allan was carrying an unlicensed .38-caliber revolver without a serial number, loaded with three live rounds, along with gambling paraphernalia and P620 in bet money.

During inspection, Allan was also found with a plastic sachet containing 3.6 grams of shabu, while Antonio had another sachet with 4.07 grams. The seized drugs were valued at P52,156.

The suspects were turned over to the Station Investigation and Detective Management Section for inquest before the Office of the City Prosecutor of Muntinlupa.

Both face charges for violation of Presidential Decree 1602 (illegal gambling) and Section 11 of Republic Act 9165 (possession of dangerous drugs). Allan will also be charged under Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act).

Southern Police District director Brig. Gen. Glenn Oliver Cinco commended Cupang Sub-station operatives for the arrest.
