CAVITE — Police arrested a man in Bacoor City on Thursday, July 23, for allegedly extorting money from his ex‑wife.
A report from the Police Regional Office 4A identified the suspect as alias Ronuel.
The Bacoor Component City Police Station (Bacoor CCPS) said the suspect’s former wife filed a complaint, claiming she had repeatedly suffered physical abuse at his hands.
The complainant alleged that the suspect demanded P80,000 from her, purportedly as payment for a damaged painting.
She further claimed that the money was also being demanded in exchange for sparing her from further physical harm, alleging that the suspect threatened to continue assaulting her and eventually kill her if she failed to pay.
Acting on the complaint, police conducted an entrapment operation that resulted in the suspect's arrest.
The suspect is now under the custody of the Bacoor CCPS and is facing extortion charges.
