Kim Soo-hyun fans mark 19th debut anniversary with charity drive amid actor's gradual comeback

Fans of Korean actor Kim Soo-hyun have organized a charity drive benefiting underprivileged children, marking the star's 19th debut anniversary as he slowly resumes public activities following months of controversy.

Child welfare organization Green Umbrella announced that the Actor Kim Soo-hyun Korea & Global Fan Union donated 1,900 children's T-shirts and 1,900 hats for children in South Korea. The number of donated items symbolizes the actor's 19 years in the entertainment industry.

The fan union, formed by the Daum Cafe fan club Eucharis and DC Kim Soo-hyun Gallery, said supporters from 114 countries participated in the campaign, which was carried out under the name "BENCH X Actor Kim Soo-hyun Korea & Global Fan Union."

"It is meaningful to be able to provide practical help to children by gathering our hearts to celebrate his 19th debut anniversary. We hope this serves as a small contribution to helping the children grow up warm and healthy," a representative of the fan union said, according to Korean media.

Green Umbrella thanked the group for what it described as a meaningful act of giving.

"We are grateful that the fans have practiced warm sharing on this significant day marking actor Kim Soo-hyun's 19th debut anniversary. We will continue our support to ensure the children can grow up happily," the organization said.

The donation comes as Kim Soo-hyun begins taking on projects again after months away from the spotlight.

On July 14, he filmed a commercial for a Philippine clothing brand, his first known advertising activity since the controversy surrounding him erupted earlier this year.

Kim Soo-hyun debuted in the MBC sitcom "Kimchi Cheese Smile" in 2007 before becoming one of South Korea's biggest stars through dramas such as "My Love from the Star," "The Producers," "It's Okay to Not Be Okay," and "Queen of Tears."
