2 nabbed in Pasay for cable theft, illegal tapping

Two men were hauled off to jail in Pasay City after police allegedly caught them cutting a Philippine Long Distance Telephone (PLDT) aerial cable in front of a gas station on July 22.
Pasay City Police chief Col. Joselito De Sesto identified the suspects as Jon, 24, a lineman, and JM, 25, a driver. They were arrested in front of a gas station on F.B. Harrison Street.
Police said PLDT roving security guards caught Jon on a ladder using cutters to slice through a PLDT aerial copper cable, while JM allegedly steadied the ladder to assist him.
The security personnel immediately confronted and apprehended the suspects before turning them over to the Libertad Sub-Station 3 for the filing of appropriate charges.
Recovered from the suspects were a 20-meter PLDT FSF aerial copper cable (400 pairs × 26 gauge) valued at P62,293.46 and a pair of cutters.
PLDT Asset Protection Specialist and Security Inspector Zel, representing the telecommunications company, filed a complaint against the suspects for alleged violation of Republic Act No. 10515, or the Anti-Cable Television and Cable Internet Tapping Act of 2013.
