Pasay City steps up school security after false gun threat

The Pasay city government on Thursday, July 23, heightened security at Pasay City East High School following a report of an alleged gun threat, which police later determined was unfounded.
Mayor Emi Calixto Rubiano immediately directed the Pasay City Police led by Col. Joselito De Sesto, along with the Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO) and the Pasay City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council, to intensify security in and around the campus to safeguard students, teachers, and school personnel.
De Sesto ordered officers from Sub Station 6 (Malibay) to respond minutes after receiving the report at about 8:04 a.m.
Police quickly coordinated with school officials to verify the situation.
After inspection and validation, authorities confirmed that no gunfire had occurred and that there was no threat to the school.
Assistant Principal Roger Escarila and teacher Ma. Corazon Prias told responding officers that classes remained peaceful and uninterrupted.
City Hall assured parents and guardians that Pasay City East High School is safe and that classes continued as scheduled.
Rubiano stressed that the city treats every reported threat seriously and acts immediately to protect students and personnel.
She also reminded the public to verify information before sharing it and urged residents to promptly report suspicious activities to authorities for swift and appropriate action.
