The first hospital ward dedicated to Overseas Filipino Workers in the Zamboanga Peninsula region opened at the Zamboanga City Medical Center (ZCMC) on Tuesday, July 21.
Department of Migrant Workers Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac led the inauguration of the ward.
The event was attended by Mayor Khymer Olaso, DMW-9 Regional Director Gay Iris Tancalagan, Dr. Dennis Dacayana of the Department of Health, and ZCMC Hospital Administrator Dr. Afdal Kunting.
Cacdac said the OFW ward pays tribute to the sacrifices of OFWs.
The OFW ward is fully air conditioned and has five beds. It is open to all OFWs from Zamboanga Peninsula, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.
The project was implemented through the DOH, DMW, and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration.
