'Deltrarune' character beats Ryan Gosling as the sexiest man of 2026

"Project Hail Mary" star Ryan Gosling just lost to a pixelated character from "Deltarune" as the sexiest man of 2026.
Mr. (Ant) Tenna, or Tenna, is known by all as the main antagonist for the third chapter of the popular "Deltarune" video game developed by Toby Fox of "Undertale" fame. He is known for his quirky game-show host attitude that aims to please the audience with lively quips and flattering energy. His design stands out, as his head is that of a CRT TV monitor, and he dons the appearance of a showman of sorts with his ringmaster-style tailcoat.
Pitted against him in the final rounds of the fight for the top spot of Tumblr Sexyman 2026 were Senshi from the anime series "Dungeon Menshi" and Ryland Grace, famously portrayed by Ryan Gosling, from "Project Hail Mary." Over 300,000 users participated in the final vote. It was a close battle for Senshi and Tenna, with Tenna narrowly taking the lead. Tenna managed to take it home with over 39.5 percent of the vote, and Senshi with 37.4 percent. Ryland Grace lagged at 23.1 percent.
What on earth is a Tumblr Sexyman?
For those unaware, the Tumblr Sexyman has been an annual competition held by users from the fandom site Tumblr. Every year, fictional characters from popular films, television series, books, and other forms of media are pitted against each other to see who can be considered the undefeated sex symbol for that particular year. Choices often stand out due to their unique traits and unusual attitudes. Previous notable Sexyman contenders include Once-ler from “The Lorax (2012),” Bill Cipher and Grunkle Stan from “Gravity Falls,” Squidward from “SpongeBob SquarePants,” Sans from “Undertale,” and Cecil Palmer from “Welcome to Night Vale.”
A Tumblr Sexyman is also known mostly for his mannerisms and attitude rather than his physical appearance. It makes for a striking critique of what society deems as conventionally attractive. Rather than voting in teenage pop heartthrobs or Hollywood beefcake hunks, Tumblr Sexymen have the common traits of being clever with a touch of chaos. Their physical appearance is unimportant, with characters like Sans, a literal skeleton, or Bill Cipher, a sentient triangle demon, becoming top candidates. It’s this line of reasoning that Ryan Gosling’s Ryland Grace likely ended up third, despite the passionate efforts of the “Project Hail Mary” fanbase. Some even jokingly point out that if “Project Hail Mary” fans had selected Rocky over Ryland as their nomination this year, he would’ve won by a landslide.
It’s unclear yet who will likely lead in next year’s Tumblr Sexyman polls, though there are times runners-up from previous years manage to make a comeback. This year’s contenders who didn’t make it through include the likes of Dr. Heinz Doofenschmirtz from “Phineas and Ferb,” Caine from “The Amazing Digital Circus,” and Luigi from “Super Mario Bros.” Ryland might even rise through the ranks even further next year if the “Project Hail Mary” fanbase remains strong. Either way, the annual Tumblr Sexyman contest shows us how attractiveness can be subjective. Even the least likely of candidates can rise through the ranks for their wit, attitude, and uniqueness.
