- Coco Martin reveals he recently joined AKTOR driven by his desire to help the industry and create more opportunities for fellow artists.
Despite being one of the biggest names in Philippine entertainment, Coco Martin only recently became part of AKTOR, an organization that has been advocating for Filipino actors and entertainment workers for years.
Now, the "Sigabo" star is sharing what led him to join the group.
Coco revealed that it was former "Batang Quiapo" co-stars Charo Santos and Cherry Pie Picache who encouraged him to meet with AKTOR.
After their suggestion, Coco sat down with members of the organization, including founding chairman Dingdong Dantes, president Iza Calzado, and other industry figures.
For Coco, the group's mission was what convinced him to become part of the group.
"Kami ni Kuya Dong, iisa ang hangarin e," Coco said in an interview with ABS-CBN.
"Kahit magkaiba kami ng network, at magkatapat pa yung show namin ngayon, pero yung hangarin namin na makatulong sa industriya, lalung-lalo na kami na yung nandito ngayon at may kakayanan na makatulong sa artista, bakit hindi."
One of Coco's plans as a member of AKTOR is to produce a stage play, a project close to him because his acting journey began in theater.
"Gusto ko pong mag-produce ng isang stage play... sabi ko ako magpo-produce," he said.
Coco said joining AKTOR is his way of helping strengthen the industry that gave him his career, especially now that he has the ability to provide opportunities for other artists.
