Baguio launches hotline, app for complaints vs 'snub taxis'

BAGUIO CITY – The city government is urging passengers to report taxi drivers who refuse to accept passengers.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong on Thursday said residents should report erring drivers through Baguio 911 so authorities can take appropriate action.
“We need to report so that the practice of some taxi drivers choosing passengers will stop. This is also for our safety and to ensure reliable public transportation in Baguio,” Magalong said.
He said passengers may simply dial 911 while within Baguio, as the emergency hotline is geotagged and connected directly to the city’s central command center.
Complainants should provide the taxi’s plate number or body number, description, date, time, and location of the incident, along with photos or videos when available.
Reports may also be submitted through the Baguio In My Pocket application.
The city’s Public Information Office said supporting evidence will help authorities verify complaints and ensure fair and timely investigations.
City Information Officer Aileen Refuerzo said proof of the incident protects both passengers and drivers by ensuring reports are based on actual occurrences.
The city government said the initiative is part of its continuing efforts to promote safe, reliable, and law-abiding public transportation services. (PNA)
