Every generation of actors eventually reaches a moment when they stop being the newcomers and become the ones guiding those just starting out.

For the veteran cast of GMA's upcoming afternoon drama "You're My Favorite Song," that transition has become one of the production's most rewarding aspects, as experienced performers find themselves mentoring a new wave of young actors while reflecting on their own beginnings in the industry.

The series pairs veteran names Boboy Garrovillo, James Blanco, Katya Santos and Wilma Doesnt with younger stars Heath Jornales, Marco Masa, Clifford and Caprice Cayetano, creating a set where experience and youthful enthusiasm naturally intersect.

For Blanco, now more than two decades into his career, working alongside younger actors has rekindled memories of his own early years in show business.

"Nakaka-excite kasi ang taas ng energy ng mga bata, so kailangan sabayan mo sila," Blanco said with a laugh. "Ganun din ako kakulit, parang 'di nababawasan ng energy."

Rather than viewing the age gap as a challenge, Blanco said the younger cast's enthusiasm has become contagious, bringing fresh energy to the production.

Santos echoed that sentiment, describing the atmosphere on set as one of the reasons she immediately connected with the project.

"It's another family na magaan katrabaho," Santos said. "I'm excited kasi sa first taping na na-experience ko, nakuha ko 'yung gaan, saya, at fun na set na pinagdasal ko."

She singled out Cayetano for her willingness to be emotionally vulnerable during scenes, saying the young actress' instincts have helped strengthen their on-screen mother-and-daughter relationship.

For Garrovillo, watching the younger performers develop has been a reminder of the industry's constant cycle of renewal.

"The future is so bright for them. They can reach the stars, some will reach the moon," he said.

But Garrovillo also offered a note of caution, encouraging the younger cast to focus less on fame and more on becoming "true actors" through continuous learning and commitment to the craft.

Doesnt believes that commitment begins with professionalism behind the camera as much as performance in front of it.

"Be professional. I-value natin 'yung time lalo na ng mga kasama natin," she advised, stressing the importance of respecting colleagues and maintaining discipline on set.

While Philippine TV continues to introduce fresh faces to audiences, productions like "You're My Favorite Song" also highlight an enduring tradition in the industry: knowledge passed from one generation of actors to the next. For the veterans on set, the experience is about building habits that could sustain long careers long after their first starring roles.
