After making her feature film debut in "Shadow Transit," UK-based singer, actress, producer, and humanitarian Qymira is taking on her biggest project yet.

The multimedia artist will star in and executive produce "Lotus," an international action thriller that brings together Academy Award winner Cuba Gooding Jr., Australian actor Luke Ford, Boyzone member Keith Duffy, and an international cast in a production spanning the Philippines and Brazil.

Through Hong Kong-based ACT3, Qymira, under her real name Leslie Loh, serves as executive producer, helping launch the company's five-film partnership with Philippine production house BlackOps Studios Asia.

The film is set to shoot from September to October in Manila before moving to Brazil.

Reuniting with "Shadow Transit" director Pedring Lopez, Qymira described "Lotus" as a natural step forward.

"This film is bigger, darker and even more ambitious, and I'm excited to be part of a story that connects Manila and Brazil," she said.

That connection goes beyond the film.

Over the years, Qymira has developed close ties to both the Philippines and Brazil through her humanitarian work and music.

Away from film and music, Qymira devotes much of her time to the One Gaia Foundation, which supports education, healthcare, and disaster relief in the Philippines, Brazil, and other communities.

The foundation's work in the Philippines began with small donations before expanding into projects such as rebuilding schools damaged by Typhoon Odette and helping children with serious illnesses.

"It started off with something as simple as slippers for children going to school," Qymira shared. "Then I learned they couldn't even go to school because of Typhoon Odette. Several schools couldn't reopen because the roof came down and there was no toilet, no water and things like that. So I just thought, bit by bit, let's just try and see if I could help a little bit."

She said those experiences continue to shape both her advocacy and creative work.

"Children don't see religion, color, creed or class. They just want to play and express themselves," she said. "Why not have them work together and exchange their talent with their peers wherever they are, and hopefully promote some sort of understanding of each other."

Qymira also has a longstanding connection with Brazil.

"Brazil holds a special place in my heart especially after having performed at the Salvador Carnival and released several Portuguese and English songs with local artists which topped the Bahia radio charts, so bringing those worlds together in this film feels incredibly personal."

"This is a film designed for a global audience but rooted in the energy and chaos of Southeast Asia and Latin America," Lopez said. "We want 'Lotus' to feel dangerous, emotional and alive, the kind of film that throws you directly into its world."

The film also stars actor-producer Cristian Lavin and Brazilian actor Alberto Cowboy. Sonny Sison oversees the action sequences with local and international stunt teams, while Noel Teehankee serves as cinematographer.
