A 22-year-old motorcycle rider died after allegedly attempting to overtake another vehicle along Manila East Road in Barangay Batingan, Binangonan, Rizal, early Tuesday, July 21.
The Binangonan Municipal Police Station identified the rider as “John,” a resident of Binangonan.
Based on the investigation, John and his back rider were traveling on a motorcycle behind another rider, identified as Jeffrey, as they headed toward Binangonan proper at around 3:30 a.m.
Upon reaching the scene, authorities said John attempted to overtake Jeffrey's motorcycle but sideswiped it, allegedly due to high speed.
As a result, both riders lost control of their motorcycles, which skidded and crashed onto the concrete pavement.
Responding MDRRMO personnel rushed the three to Margarito A. Duavit Memorial Hospital in Binangonan. John was declared dead on arrival due to severe injuries.
Jeffrey remains under treatment for multiple injuries, while John’s back rider was later transferred to the Philippine Orthopedic Center after suffering a fractured left leg.
Police said the incident is still under investigation.
