GSIS earmarks ₱520 million in emergency loans for members in La Union, Negros Occidental
State-run Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has allocated ₱520.08 million in emergency funding to support 21,153 members and pensioners affected by public health and agricultural crises in La Union and Negros Occidental.
Under the facility, GSIS said that eligible active workers and old-age or disability pensioners in Bagulin, La Union—where authorities declared a state of public health emergency following a dengue surge—have until Aug. 16 to submit applications.
Borrowers in the Province of Negros Occidental, which entered a state of calamity after an infestation of red-striped soft scale insects hit local sugarcane plantations, face an Aug. 14 deadline.
GSIS said the emergency credit line is designed to deliver immediate cash relief to communities operating under declared states of emergency or disaster.
Active members seeking assistance must work or reside in the specified regions, maintain a minimum net monthly take-home pay of ₱5,000 following deductions, and show at least three months of premium payments within the preceding six-month window.
Qualified applicants must also carry no unpaid GSIS loans overdue by more than six months, have no pending criminal or administrative charges, and not be on unpaid leave.
Pensioners residing in the affected locations are eligible provided their net monthly pension remains at or above 25 percent after all loan obligations are settled, and they hold no emergency debt defaulted past six months.
The state pension fund structured the financial aid with a 36-month repayment period carrying a fixed annual interest rate of six percent, waiving all administrative and processing fees to maximize net proceeds for applicants.
Borrowers can complete the application process digitally via the GSIS Touch mobile application, with approved loan proceeds credited directly into the accounts linked to their government-issued ATM cards.
