National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Melvin Matibag said on Tuesday, July 21 that the agency is 100 percent sure that Vice President Sara Duterte hired a hitman who will execute President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos and members of his family.

Matibag said the NBI task force that is in charge of investigating the alleged threats of Vice President Duterte against the First Family, is already close to identifying the supposed killer she contracted to carry out the deed should anything happen to her.

“Based on the statements made by the Vice President herself, we are very sure she contracted somebody,” Matibag said in response to the question posed by Senator-judge Paolo “Bam” Aquino IV.

"We are 100 percent sure…because she herself stated her plan that she has contracted somebody to kill and that killer agreed to do what she asked based on their conversation,” Matibag further said.

Prior to this, Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian asked Matibag if they already have a specific personality whom they believe Duterte supposedly hired to execute the kill plot against the Marcos family.

To which, Matibag said they have already identified several persons of interest who may been contacted by the Vice President to execute the kill plot. 

“For now we have a list of persons of interests, we are considering one of the persons in that list as the very person who we believe is the specific person the vice president talked to,” Matibag said. 

In three to six months, Matibag said the NBI will be ready to disclose concrete information about the identity of the hired hitman.

"As we go to progress, probably in three to six months we’ll have a clearer data regarding this,” the NBI official said.

Asked if by that timeframe, the NBI will be able to name the hired hitman, Matibag said: “That is what we expect.”
