Titled “My Favorite Highlights from Sara’s Impeachment Trial (Days 1–3),” the video featured moments from the proceedings involving both the prosecution and defense panels.

The post, which circulated widely on TikTok, was associated by some users with supporters of the Duterte family because of its hashtags and framing.

After Joshua’s interaction with the video became public, screenshots spread across social media, particularly on X, with some users accusing the actor of being a “DDS” or Diehard Duterte Supporter.

Others questioned his decision to engage with content related to a controversial political figure.

However, several netizens also defended Joshua, arguing that liking, reposting, or following public figures does not automatically reveal a person’s political beliefs.

Some supporters said the actor should be allowed to engage with current events without immediately being labeled or attacked.

The controversy intensified after eagle-eyed followers noticed that Joshua had unfollowed Vice President Sara Duterte and Senator Alan Peter Cayetano on Instagram following the backlash.

The move triggered more reactions online, with some users calling it a form of damage control amid mounting criticism.

As of publication, Joshua and his management team have yet to release a statement addressing the controversy.
