Iloilo radio station off air after transmitter equipment robbery

ILOILO CITY — Bombo Radyo Iloilo is temporarily off air after it was robbed of transmission equipment.

‎Police Col. Wilbert B. Parilla, director of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO), has ordered a thorough investigation.
‎
‎The theft was discovered Monday morning at its tower site in Barangay Loboc.
‎
‎ “We assure we are conducting a comprehensive investigation to identify and apprehend those responsible,” said Parilla in a statement.
‎
‎The ICPO-Police Station 8 led by Police Capt. Maria Tonigrace Troncoso is gathering CCTV footage to identify the perpetrators.
‎
‎Stolen were two 565-kilovolt ampere (kVA) equipment; four pieces tank coil; four pieces copper straps; three meters grounding rod, and 120 pieces copper grounding radials.
‎
‎ The ICPO warned people against buying stolen radio broadcasting equipment.
‎
‎“Any person who knowingly purchases, possesses, or trades stolen property may be held criminally liable and face appropriate charges under existing laws,” said Police Major Shella Mae Sangrines, ICPO spokesperson.
‎
‎Bombo Radyo Iloilo is offering P300,000 reward for people who can provide information in identifying the suspects.
