'Avengers: Doomsday' trailer sparks Marvel frenzy with big reveals

Published Jul 21, 2026 09:28 am

Marvel Studios has finally given fans their first look at "Avengers: Doomsday," and one thing is already clear. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to become bigger, riskier, and more interconnected than ever before.

The newly released  trailer teases a story where multiple universes collide, bringing together heroes who have never shared the screen while reviving several fan favorites many thought they had seen for the last time.

According to Marvel's official synopsis, the film centers on the collapse of the Multiverse, with different realities facing destruction as they begin crashing into one another.

One of the trailer's biggest surprises is the return of the original Fox X-Men. Patrick Stewart reprises his role as Professor X, while Ian McKellen returns as Magneto as their universe appears to face an approaching Incursion, a catastrophic event in Marvel lore where alternate realities collide.

A chilling voiceover warns of what's ahead.

"Something is coming. Something that we may not be able to deter. Before this day is done, we shall be faced with an unthinkable decision."

The trailer also finally brings Marvel's First Family deeper into the MCU.

Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm arrive from their own universe and are seen meeting Earth's Mightiest Heroes, including Sam Wilson's Captain America, Bucky Barnes, Thor, and Ant-Man, as they prepare for a threat unlike anything they've encountered before.

Another sequence hints that Wakanda will play a major role in the conflict, with Black Panther meeting members of the Fantastic Four alongside the Wakandans.

Beyond the team-ups, the trailer is packed with blink-and-you'll-miss-it moments.

Cyclops is shown battling Sentinels at Xavier's School, while Gambit makes his biggest MCU appearance yet in a high-energy fight against Shang-Chi. Fans also catch glimpses of Namor and the Talokan civilization, Loki inside the TVA, and Yelena Belova facing off against Mystique, whose shape-shifting abilities make the confrontation even more dangerous.

Perhaps the trailer's most jaw-dropping moment belongs to Doctor Doom.

Thor charges into battle and swings Stormbreaker at the iconic villain, only for Doom to stop the powerful weapon effortlessly, suggesting he may become one of the strongest adversaries the Avengers have ever faced.

The trailer saves its biggest emotional surprise for the closing moments.

As Thor walks alone, someone calls out, "Hey pal."

Recognizing the familiar voice, Thor responds, "It's not possible."

Mjolnir then flies toward the mysterious figure, who catches the enchanted hammer before stepping into view as Steve Rogers, with Chris Evans making his long-awaited return.

Notably absent from the trailer are Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, and Bruce Banner, leading many fans to speculate that Marvel may be saving even bigger reveals for future trailers or the film itself.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, "Avengers: Doomsday" serves as the next major chapter following 2019's "Avengers: Endgame."
