CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – Authorities continue to look for two children aged 11 and seven missing in a flash flood in Barangay Mapagong here on Sunday.
Mayor Ross Rizal said that nine houses were totally damaged, 25 were partially damaged, and 46 families or 190 individuals were affected and temporarily sheltered at the barangay hall and evacuation center.
Rizal said assistance is being provided by the city government to affected residents living on the bank of the river where the flash flood occurred.
Meanwhile, an eight-year-old pupil drowned in a swimming pool in Barangay Talaga, Tanauan City, Batangas, on Sunday afternoon.
Investigation said the victim Jhared was swimming with his uncle Mike when he left to get some food.
Mike returned and noticed his nephew missing. He searched for the victim and found him submerged underwater.
The victim was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.
