Björn Again promises Filipinos the 'time of their lives' in concert return

Get ready to dust off the sequins and sing your heart out because Björn Again is convinced Filipino audiences are about to steal the show.

The world-renowned ABBA tribute act is bringing "The ABBA Forever Tour" to the Philippines this August, with performances scheduled at The Theatre at Solaire in Manila on Aug. 8 and 9, following a Cebu stop on Aug. 7.

For the group, this isn't just another stop on a global tour. It's a long-awaited reunion with one of their favorite audiences.

"We have great memories of being there in 2017," the group shared during a recent interview. "People sang and danced with the band, and they knew every word of the songs. That was just so exciting for us."

For nearly four decades, Björn Again has built a reputation as the world's premier ABBA tribute production, performing more than 7,000 shows across over 125 countries. Yet despite playing iconic venues around the world, the performers say the energy of Filipino crowds remains unforgettable.

"We have very high expectations," they laughed when asked if Filipinos could out-sing audiences from countries like Scotland, Ireland, Australia, Canada, and China. "Filipinos come to our shows in Australia as well, and they always let us know where they are because they're singing the loudest, and the best."

That audience participation is exactly what makes a Björn Again concert different from a typical live performance. Rather than expecting fans to stay in their seats, the group encourages everyone to stand up, dance, sing, and even come dressed in disco-inspired outfits.

"We want everybody to forget about everything else except for that moment they're having with us," one member explained. "Stand up, sing along, dance like nobody is watching."

Another added that audience participation is what transforms the concert into a lasting memory.

"When you sing and dance along, it creates so much more of a joyful memory for yourself," they said. "The more colorful, the better. We love seeing all the sparkles."

For the performers, Björn Again has always been more than simply recreating ABBA's biggest hits. They describe the production as a celebration of timeless music that brings generations together while giving audiences "a couple of hours of joy and happiness."

That message resonates strongly in the Philippines, where karaoke culture and family sing-alongs have helped keep classics like "Dancing Queen," "Mamma Mia," "Waterloo," and "Fernando" as beloved today as they were decades ago.

As the group counts down to its return, it has one message for Filipino fans: don't wait too long.

"Buy your tickets now before they all sell out," they urged. "Bring all your friends and family... and your mom too."

Borrowing one of ABBA's most iconic lyrics, they added: "You can dance, you can jive, and you can have the time of your life with Björn Again in the Philippines."

Tickets are available through SM Tickets for the Cebu show and TicketWorld or the Solaire Box Office for the Manila performances.
