'Basag-kotse' suspect caught with pen gun in QC

Police arrested a suspected “basag-kotse” thief after recovering a pen gun loaded with four live .38-caliber rounds during a follow-up operation in Barangay Bahay Toro, Quezon City, Friday night.
The suspect, identified only as alias “Komang,” 47, of Barangay Ramon Magsaysay, was nabbed at around 9:45 p.m. after police tracked him down through CCTV footage, witness accounts, and intelligence information.
Police said the suspect allegedly smashed the window of a parked vehicle in Barangay Bagong Pag-asa earlier that day and stole several personal belongings before fleeing.
Personnel of Project 6 Police Station (PS 15) conducted a follow-up operation after identifying the suspect and locating his reported hideout in Barangay Bahay Toro.
Police recovered from the suspect a pen gun loaded with four live .38-caliber rounds.
They also recovered several items allegedly stolen from the vehicle, including an emergency medical kit, a bucket hat, and a dog tie, which were positively identified by the complainant.
The suspect is facing charges for violation of Republic Act No. 10591, or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, as well as theft and malicious mischief before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.
Police records showed that the suspect had previous records involving theft and illegal gambling.
