Biazon said the fire was reported at 3:39 p.m., prompting the hospital to declare Code Red, which indicates a fire or smoke incident in the facility.
The fire was extinguished nine minutes after it was reported, at 3:48 p.m. It originated in the housekeeping storeroom on OsMun's roof deck.
The mayor said the fire affected a storage room used by the hospital's outsourced maintenance service to store cleaning materials.
He said the fire was immediately contained due to the prompt response of OsMun security officers and firefighters.
Nurses and security guards went around the hospital and informed patients that the fire was already contained, but told them to secure their belongings and be ready in case an evacuation would be ordered.
Biazon said all patients were safe and no one was reported injured in the fire.
Investigators are determining the cause of the blaze.
