Indigent seniors in Parañaque get P3K social pension

A total of 9,968 indigent senior citizens in Parañaque received P3,000 each in social pension benefits for the second quarter of 2026 as the city government continued its efforts to provide financial assistance to elderly residents.
Parañaque Mayor Edwin L. Olivarez led the distribution of the quarterly pension to beneficiaries from the city's 16 barangays in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Each qualified senior citizen received P3,000, equivalent to P1,000 per month, to help pay for basic necessities, including food, medicines, and other daily expenses.
Olivarez said the increase in the monthly social pension from P500 to P1,000 has provided greater financial relief to indigent senior citizens, particularly those with limited or no regular source of income.
He said the city government remains committed to working closely with the national government and barangays to ensure that more eligible senior citizens are included in the program.
"Our commitment is to make sure every qualified senior citizen receives the assistance they need. We will continue to strengthen our partnership with the national government so that more elderly residents can benefit from this program," Olivarez said.
The DSWD's Social Pension Program is intended for indigent senior citizens who are frail, sickly, or with disabilities and who do not receive pensions from the Social Security System (SSS), Government Service Insurance System (GSIS), Philippine Veterans Affairs Office (PVAO), or any private insurance institution.
Aside from the quarterly social pension, the city government has rolled out several programs for senior citizens, including Pamaskong Handog packages, birthday and Christmas cash gifts, cash incentives for pre-centenarians and centenarians, free movie passes, free parking privileges, exemption from the number coding scheme, and burial assistance.
City officials said these initiatives highlight the local government's continuing commitment to promoting the welfare, dignity, and well-being of senior citizens through sustained financial assistance and social services.
