Barangay secretary survives shooting while heading to work in Rizal

A 46-year-old barangay secretary was injured after being shot by an unidentified gunman while on his way to work in Angono, Rizal on Friday, July 17.
The Angono Municipal Police Station (Angono MPS) said the incident occurred around 8 a.m. while the victim was walking along Doña Nieves Street heading towards his workplace as a secretary at Barangay San Vicente.
Suddenly, two armed suspects on a motorcycle approached the victim, and without any apparent reason, one of them fired several shots at him, hitting him in the body.
The suspects immediately fled on a motorcycle toward Barangay Kalayaan.
Meanwhile, the victim was taken to Angono General Hospital before being transferred to Amang Rodriguez Medical Center in Marikina City for further treatment.
Police have yet to determine the motive behind the shooting as follow-up operations are underway to identify and arrest the suspects.
