3 'jumper boys' arrested after viral Tondo truck cargo attempt

Three suspected “jumper boys” are now in police custody after a video showing them attempting to open a truck’s cargo while stuck in traffic in Tondo went viral.

Footage recorded by a netizen on Saturday, July 18, showed two of the suspects climbing onto the truck and cutting its cover in an attempt to force it open, reportedly targeting sacks of rice.

A third suspect was seen nearby, apparently acting as a lookout as the incident unfolded.

The suspects were later seen fleeing after the truck’s helper suddenly got down and confronted them, carrying a metal pipe.

The video quickly spread online, prompting authorities to act.

Police said the three suspects were identified and taken into custody as of Sunday, July 19.

A fourth individual linked to the group remains at large, with authorities continuing the search and urging the suspect to surrender.

Investigators said the viral footage helped lead to the suspects’ arrest, with residents and bystanders providing information that aided the operation.

Local officials also cited coordination among the community, barangay personnel, and law enforcement as key to the swift response.
