2 kids drown in Calamba City flash flood

CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – Two children drowned and six houses were destroyed in a  flash flood on a river triggered by heavy rain on Sunday afternoon, July 19, in Barangay Mapagong here.

Authorities said the victims were aged 11 and seven.

Three persons were rescued – Regine, Jared Benites, and Gilbert Atasan.

Village chairman Jona Baylon on social media sought help for affected villagers.

Several houses were partially damaged.  

The City Disaster Office, with Mayor Ross Rizal, conducted rescue operations.

The local government unit has assessed the condition of residents and what assistance would be provided.
