Manila LGU issues road advisory for United People's Initiative projected rally

The Manila City government advised motorists to plan their trips ahead as several roads in the city will be closed or subject to traffic rerouting due to the projected rally of the United People's Initiative (UPI) on Sunday, July 19.
In a road advisory, the city government said on Saturday, July 18, traffic adjustments will be implemented in areas near CRB Mendiola, Ayala Bridge, and Liwasang Bonifacio.
Road closures at CRB Mendiola will begin at 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 18.
The affected roads include the stretch of C.M. Recto Avenue from Nicanor Reyes Street to Mendiola Street and the stretch of Legarda Street from Figueras Street to San Rafael Street.
Vehicles from Quezon Boulevard and C.M. Recto Avenue heading toward Mendiola Street will be diverted to Nicanor Reyes Street.
Motorists coming from Sta. Mesa via Legarda Street and bound for C.M. Recto Avenue will be rerouted to Figueras Street, Earnshaw Street, and Sergio H. Loyola Street.
Vehicles from P. Casal Street heading toward Mendiola Street will be diverted to San Rafael Street, Bilibid Viejo Street, and Quezon Boulevard.
It added that Ayala Bridge and the eastbound lane of Ayala Boulevard from San Marcelino Street to Romualdez Street will be closed starting at 5 p.m. on July 18.
Motorists from Romualdez Street heading toward Ayala Bridge may take Ayala Boulevard and Taft Avenue or proceed via Natividad Lopez Street, A. Villegas Street, and C. Muñoz Street.
Vehicles from San Marcelino Street heading toward Ayala Bridge may take Ayala Boulevard and Taft Avenue or continue along San Marcelino Street before turning left onto United Nations Avenue.
Motorists traveling along the eastbound lane of Ayala Boulevard toward Ayala Bridge will be diverted to San Marcelino Street, while vehicles from Carlos Palanca Street heading to Ayala Bridge will be rerouted to P. Casal Street. Those coming from P. Casal Street toward Ayala Bridge will instead be diverted to Carlos Palanca Street.
Meanwhile, road closures near Liwasang Bonifacio will begin at 6 a.m. on Sunday, July 19.
The affected area covers the stretch of Magallanes Drive from Jones Bridge to MacArthur Bridge.
The city government said the closure of the southbound lanes of MacArthur Bridge, Quezon Bridge, and Lerma Street will depend on the actual traffic and crowd situation.
These include the southbound lane of MacArthur Bridge from Plaza Lacson to Liwasang Bonifacio, the southbound lane of Quezon Boulevard from A. Mendoza Street-Fugoso Street to Quezon Bridge and Liwasang Bonifacio, and the southbound lane of Lerma Street from España Boulevard-P. Campa Street to A. Mendoza Street.
Motorists from Plaza Sta. Cruz heading toward the southbound lane of MacArthur Bridge will be diverted to Dasmariñas Street, Juan Luna Street, Plaza Cervantes, and Jones Bridge.
Vehicles from A. Mendoza Street bound for the southbound lane of Quezon Boulevard or Quezon Bridge will be rerouted to Fugoso Street, Tomas Mapua Street, and C.M. Recto Avenue.
Motorists from España Boulevard heading toward the southbound lane of Quezon Boulevard or Quezon Bridge will be diverted to Nicanor Reyes Street and C.M. Recto Avenue.
The local government advised motorists to use alternate routes and allow extra travel time to avoid inconvenience.
