DAVAO CITY – Rain-induced landslide rendered a portion of the Bukidnon-Davao Road in Sitio Marahan in Barangay Marilog of this city impassable to all types of vehicles since Friday evening, July 17, according to an advisory from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Davao region.
The agency said heavy rains caused the road slip in Purok 39, Sitio Marahan.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area while assessment is still ongoing and take the Datu Ludayon-Katipunan-Campo Uno Road.
The landslide also damaged several houses.
Commonly known as Buda (Bukidnon-Davao) Road, the highway is a vital link between this city and Bukidnon province.
The mountainous stretch between Barangay Marilog to Quezon town in Bukidnon is a known landslide-prone area.
In October last year, a portion of the highway also collapsed due to a landslide, hampering the flow of goods and traffic for four months.
