Five-year-old kid drowns in Lapu-Lapu City

CEBU CITY – A five-year-old child drowned while swimming together with other children in Barangay Angasil, Lapu-Lapu City on Friday afternoon, July 17.
Lapu-Lapu Mayor Cindi King-Chan reported that two other children aged four and seven survived the incident.
Chan said that three children were playing with their 11-year-old neighbor outside their homes in Barangay Bankal when they decided to swim at sea.
She said it was the 11-year-old child who convinced his playmates to swim.
While swimming, the children reportedly went to the deeper portion of the sea, resulting in the incident.
Residents rescued the four children and rushed them to the hospital where the five-year-old was declared dead.
The other children are already in stable condition, Chan said.
