Vice Ganda, Ion Perez relationship dragged into Chad-Apple age gap debate
By Ian Ureta
Vice Ganda and Ion Perez have found themselves at the center of another viral online discussion after mixed martial arts fighter Rolando Dy cited their relationship while weighing in on the ongoing debate surrounding the reported romance between content creator Apple David and Letran basketball player Chad Gammad.
The issue involving 33-year-old David and 18-year-old Gammad has sparked heated conversations on social media because of their 15-year age gap. While some netizens have criticized the relationship, others have defended the couple, pointing out that both are adults.
Joining the discussion, Dy questioned why the public's reaction appears different from the response to Ganda and Perez, who also have a 15-year age gap. The comedian and television host is 50, while Perez is 35.
Ganda, one of the country's biggest television personalities and a longtime host of "It's Showtime," and Perez, who rose to fame as a contestant before becoming a television host, publicly confirmed their relationship in 2023 after years of speculation.
Dy's remarks quickly gained traction online, prompting another round of debate.
Some social media users also pointed to unverified speculation about the timeline of David and Gammad's relationship, claiming it may have begun before Gammad turned 18. Those claims remain unconfirmed, and neither David nor Gammad has publicly addressed the speculation.
As of writing, neither Ganda, Perez, David, Gammad, nor Dy has issued further statements following the renewed online discussion.
