A barangay councilor was shot dead inside his resort in Barangay Malibago, Echague, Isabela, on Friday morning, July 17.
Initial investigation showed that a worker heard several gunshots and found the 66-year-old victim lying on the ground in a pool of blood.
Police Major Domer Pelo, chief of the Echague Municipal Police Station, said the victim sustained five bullet wounds, including one to the head.
The victim was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.
Pelo said they are conducting manhunt and follow-up investigation.
The victim served 13 years as barangay captain before being elected councilor.
Police appealed for information from the people as there are no closed-circuit television cameras in the area and houses are far from each other.
