CEBU CITY – Thousands of residents in various towns in Bohol benefited from the second tranche of the provincial government’s rice subsidy program held simultaneously on Friday, July 17.
In Cortes, a total of 1,157 each received 10 kilos of rice in the continued implementation of the program, which aims to strengthen food security and support vulnerable sectors across the province.
The Office of Provincial Social Welfare and Development spearheaded the rice distribution in partnership with the local government unit of Cortes.
The activity forms part of the province-wide rollout of the rice subsidy initiative funded by the national government.
The program seeks to provide additional support to indigent families and other vulnerable groups amid continuing economic challenges and rising household needs.
To further strengthen the program and ensure that all identified beneficiaries are accommodated, the provincial government, led by Gov. Aris Aumentado, allocated an additional ₱11-million counterpart fund for the implementation of the four-tranche distribution program.
The funding complements the national government’s allocation and expands the reach of assistance to qualified recipients across the province.
The subsidy distribution was also conducted in other municipalities on the same day.
In Pilar town, 1,760 beneficiaries also received rice assistance while another 1,088 beneficiaries in Anda also got bags of rice.
