The Pasay City government has intensified its public health campaign by reminding residents to continue practicing basic health habits -- regular handwashing, wearing masks when feeling unwell, and staying informed through official sources -- even as the city remains under a low Covid-19 risk classification.
Mayor Emi Calixto Rubiano issued the reminder following reports of Covid-19 cases in neighboring cities, saying that maintaining simple health practices remains the best defense against the disease.
These measures, locally known as the “EMI Habit,” encourage residents to wash their hands frequently, wear a mask especially when experiencing cough, colds, or other flu like symptoms, and rely only on reliable and official updates.
Rubiano said there is no cause for panic, noting that the city continues to be classified as low risk.
However, authorities stressed that the city remains vulnerable because of the daily influx of workers, tourists, commuters, and travelers passing through its airports, transport terminals, commercial establishments, and business centers.
To safeguard public health, the City Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (CESU) has intensified its monitoring of Covid-19 and other communicable diseases to ensure the early detection of cases and the immediate implementation of appropriate interventions.
Rubiano said health authorities are prepared to respond quickly to any reported case to prevent further transmission.
The city government urged residents not to be complacent and to continue observing health protocols, particularly when feeling unwell, to help keep Pasay safe and healthy.
