Customs Commissioner Ariel Nepomuceno personally inspected on Wednesday, July 15, the Paircargo facility at Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 to assess cargo congestion following the closure of a warehouse to make way for the construction of the new NAIA Terminal 4.
He was welcomed by Paircargo Composite Team Chief Dr. Siegfred L. Manaois and Assistant Subport District Collector Irene Moreno Concio.
Nepomuceno was accompanied by NAIA District Collector Attorney Maria Yasmin Obillos Mapa.
The commissioner said he aims to resolve delays brokers face in releasing cargo.
He directed stakeholders -- including Paircargo Management, the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), and the New NAIA Infra Corp. (NNIC) -- to establish proper coordination and cooperation to immediately ease congestion.
The backlog has disrupted the flow of shipments within the customs jurisdiction.
Nepomuceno stressed that swift action is needed to restore efficiency in cargo handling at NAIA.
