- Angel Locsin criticizes Senator Robin Padilla, questioning his past silence on red-tagging and his positions on Quiboloy, China, and politics.
Angel Locsin has publicly criticized Senator Robin Padilla, taking to social media to question his silence during previous controversies involving her.
In a strongly worded social media post, Locsin addressed the senator directly, writing: “Tama na, Kuya. Gising na. Hindi pa huli ang lahat.”
Her statement came shortly after Padilla declared during Vice President Sara Duterte's impeachment trial that he considers himself a "communist" while challenging the testimony of National Bureau of Investigation (NBI)-Bangsamoro Regional Director Jeremy Lotoc.
Locsin acknowledged Padilla's candor, saying she appreciated seeing the outspoken personality she had known in the past.
“At least, honest ka ngayon, Kuya,” she wrote.
However, the actress questioned why Padilla did not defend her when she was previously subjected to red-tagging despite, according to her, knowing the allegations were false.
She also claimed that some of those responsible for the accusations were among Padilla's associates, accusing him of remaining silent instead of speaking out.
Locsin further questioned Padilla's support for detained religious leader Apollo Quiboloy, contrasting it with his own political journey.
She pointed out that Padilla won the highest number of votes in the 2022 senatorial elections despite being a Muslim, then asked why he appeared to be defending Quiboloy, even questioning whether the senator truly believes Quiboloy's claim of being the "appointed son of God."
The actress also criticized Padilla's position on China, ending her message by reminding public officials that their primary responsibility is to serve the Filipino people.
Reflecting on their similar backgrounds, Locsin said both of them rose from humble beginnings, started working at a young age, and built careers that entertained millions of Filipinos.
She concluded by saying that their gratitude and loyalty should be directed to God and the Filipino people not to any single individual.
