Officials and employees of the Quezon City government underwent a three-day training on the New Government Procurement Act (NGPA) to strengthen the city's implementation of the country's modernized procurement law under Republic Act No. 12009.
Conducted by the Government Procurement Policy Board (GPPB) from July 13 to 15, the training familiarized participants with the new provisions of Republic Act No. 12009, which modernizes the government's procurement process and the implementation of contracts and services by winning bidders and suppliers.
Among those who attended the training were City Administrator Mike Alimurung, City Budget Officer Marian Orayani, other city department heads, and GPPB-recognized trainers Juliana Sunga, Leslie Cañafranca, and lawyer Christine Paciencia.
The GPPB, the country's central procurement policy-making body, has been conducting NGPA caravans and capacity-building activities nationwide to help national government agencies and local government units transition to the new procurement framework and ensure its uniform implementation.
The Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (QCDRRMO) also deployed a medic at the MICE Building throughout the three-day training to provide immediate emergency medical assistance to participants, if needed.
