The Department of Health (DOH) has reassigned several officials to interim posts following the appointment of Acting Health Secretary Dr. Jose “Brix” Pujalte Jr.
The interim assignments were made through Department Personnel Order No. 2026-4726 after Pujalte took his oath of office before President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
According to DOH, the interim assignments cover officials at the Central Office, Centers for Health Development, and selected operating units.
The changes come as the department reviews its programs, offices, and priorities under the new leadership.
“The health challenges we face require an agency that listens, acts decisively, and works as one organization. Following the directive of President Bongbong Marcos, our focus is to deliver services fast, work closely with our partners, and translate policies into concrete action that improves the lives of Filipinos,” Pujalte said in a statement on Wednesday, July 15.
DOH said all of its offices, hospitals, attached agencies, and specialty centers will continue to operate while the review is underway.
Pujalte also directed officials and employees to ensure a smooth turnover of responsibilities and uphold professionalism during the transition.
He succeeded Dr. Teodoro Herbosa, who resigned as health secretary to focus on his rehabilitation following knee replacement surgery.
