Philippine-based business process outsourcing (BPO) firm Asiatel Outsourcing Inc. is taking a significant step toward its international expansion plans as it goes public by listing on Canada’s TSX Venture Exchange (TSXV).

Asiatel made history as the first Philippine-founded BPO company to list on TSXV on Tuesday, July 14, opening at 0.19 Canadian dollar per share and closing slightly higher at 0.20 Canadian dollar.

The company completed its listing through the capital pool company (CPC) structure, which provides a streamlined path for early-stage companies to go public.

Asiatel chief executive officer (CEO) Jasjit Singh Anand said the listing is central to the company’s international growth plan, with Canada already home to a growing base of its existing clients.

“This listing gives us a public vehicle to grow the business the way we always have, without leverage and with a clear plan for where the next stage of growth comes from,” he said.

Asiatel expects the public listing to build the institutional credibility needed to secure larger corporate accounts while also expanding its reach through acquisition targets as it moves beyond the small- and medium-sized enterprise market.

The company noted that the TSXV’s requirement for a rigorous governance and reporting framework is among the necessary steps it must take for future expansion into North American markets.

Asiatel chairman Shafi Aboobaker said having a public presence in the region would place the company in a stronger position with the clients and partners it wants to work with.

Operating since 2006, Asiatel employs around 500 workers in the Philippines and serves clients across eight countries.

Its outsourcing solutions include employer of record, remote staffing, managed services, agentic artificial intelligence (AI), and intelligent workflow automation, among others.

Having grown its revenue base to more than 8.3 million Canadian dollars without taking on external debt, Asiatel said the listing will support its transition from traditional outsourcing services to higher-value knowledge process outsourcing (KPO).

These KPO services include engineering support, environmental, social, and governance (ESG) compliance, accounting, software as a service (SaaS) deployment, and AI-assisted service delivery.

Further, the company also intends to use funds raised through the TSXV listing to finance its expansion into regions beyond Southeast Asia and North America, particularly Eastern Europe and Latin America.
