The Malabon City government assured the public that authorities are taking the necessary steps to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and school personnel after a social media message allegedly containing a threat against Malabon National High School circulated online on Wednesday, July 15.
In an advisory, the city government said it immediately coordinated with the Malabon City Police Station (MCPS), school officials, and concerned agencies to verify the information.
MCPS chief Col. Kenneth Mission said he had spoken with the school officer-in-charge and requested the cybercrime unit to check the account behind the circulating message.
“Kausap ko ang school in-charge. Pina-check ko sa cybercrime unit ang account (I have spoken with the school officer-in-charge and asked the cybercrime unit to check the account),” Mission said.
The city government said there was still no official confirmation that the threat was credible. However, authorities are treating the report seriously and have launched an investigation.
The city’s Public Information Office (PIO) said classes at MNHS had been suspended upon the instruction of the Schools Division Office of Malabon.
“Wala na po silang pasok sa MNHS as per SDO Malabon (There are no classes at MNHS, as directed by the Schools Division Office of Malabon),” it said.
Students who were already inside the school were allowed to go home once their parents or guardians arrived to fetch them.
“As long po dumating na ang magulang o sundo, pinapauwi n daw po ang estudyante para sigurado po ligtas uuwe ang estudyante (Once a parent or guardian arrives, the student is allowed to go home to ensure that the student gets home safely),” PIO added.
The local government urged the public to remain calm, avoid sharing unverified information, and rely only on official announcements from the Malabon City government, MCPS, MNHS, and the Schools Division Office of Malabon.
Individuals with information that could help the investigation were advised to immediately coordinate with the Malabon City Police Station or the school administration.
The city government said the safety and welfare of students, teachers, and school personnel remain its top priority.
