- Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino 2026 returns with concerts, music forums, and regional collaborations as organizers continue efforts to promote Original Pilipino Music nationwide.
The annual Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino (LMP) is underway this July with a series of concerts, industry forums, and community events across the country.
Now in its 12th year since being institutionalized through Proclamation No. 933 signed by the late President Benigno S. Aquino III in 2014, LMP aims to promote Filipino music and recognize the contributions of artists, songwriters, producers, and other stakeholders in the local music industry.
This year's edition carries the theme "Pinoy Coded," which organizers said highlights Filipino identity and the role of music in reflecting the country's culture, stories, and shared experiences.
According to Organisasyon ng mga Pilipinong Mang-Aawit (OPM) president Ogie Alcasid, the theme was chosen to connect with younger audiences while maintaining the campaign's focus on Filipino music and culture.
"We wanted to retain that love for our music and our culture. Hence, why we went with the theme 'Pinoy Coded,'" Alcasid said.
Among this year's major activities is OPM Spotlight, a month-long concert series running until July 31 in Metro Manila, Palawan, Iloilo, and Baguio, featuring performances by OPM artists alongside renditions of Filipino classics.
The celebration will also include the LMP Rockwell Series from July 25 to 31 at Power Plant Mall in Makati, featuring acoustic performances by 11 Filipino artists, and the OPM-ic Open Mic Night on July 29 at Backdoor Maginhawa, which will provide a platform for emerging musicians.
For industry professionals and aspiring artists, the LMP Music Talk Series will be held on July 25 at Trinoma Cinema 6. The forum will tackle topics such as music production, royalties, distribution, creator support, and current trends in the Philippine music industry.
OPM executive director Gab Cabangon said this year's program expands collaborations beyond Metro Manila through partnerships with regional organizations in Baguio, Palawan, and Iloilo.
"We're excited to collaborate with productions outside of Metro Manila. It has always been our goal to expand the LMP celebration to different parts of the country," he said.
Linggo ng Musikang Pilipino 2026 is organized by the Organisasyon ng mga Pilipinong Mang-Aawit and the Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (FILSCAP).
