Inchcape Philippines and Stellantis have mutually agreed to conclude the Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram (CDJR) distribution partnership in the Philippines, effective end of June 2027.
Inchcape Philippines will still be offering and continuing aftersales service and parts support to the existing customers of CDJR products through its authorized CDJR dealerships.
The decision reflects Inchcape’s ongoing approach to portfolio management, with the group regularly reviewing its brand partnerships to ensure its portfolio remains aligned with business priorities and strategic growth ambitions.
Inchcape remains committed to the local market in the Philippines, concentrating its investment and capabilities on the areas where it sees the strongest opportunities to drive sustainable long-term growth.
"Our priority is to ensure a smooth transition, and we will continue to work closely with Stellantis to support our customers, dealers and partners, while honouring our existing commitments,” said Alex Hammett, Managing Director, South Asia & Pacific, Inchcape. “Our focus is now on continuing to grow our existing portfolio and bringing new products to our customers in the Philippines."
Inchcape gathered select members of the media yesterday for a brief roundtable regarding this development.
The group, a joint venture between Inchcape and CATS Group of Companies, continues to serve as the distributor for Mercedes-Benz, Jaguar Land Rover, Changan Auto, as well as a dealer for Harley-Davidson motorcycles.
During the roundtable, Inchcape noted that several factors have contributed to the slowing performance of CDJR brands. These include a slim model selection and the lack of free trade agreements between the source country and the Philippines leading to unfavorable pricing. Hammett also noted that the market wants and needs have drastically changed in a short span of time.
Committed to the Philippines
Nonetheless, Hammett says that Inchcape remains invested in committed to the Philippine market. During the roundtable, Inchcape highlighted its many investments in the country, among them its large multi-purpose facility in C5 in Libis, that houses its parts logistics hub, its Tesla-certified service center and paint and body repair, as well as personnel training facility.
Inchcape also houses other arms of its global operations in the Philippines such as Inchcape Digital and Inchcape Global Solutions, which both support its global automotive network needs as well as provide solutions to international clients. In total, Inchape employs over 1,000 people in the country.
A possible new partner
In response to the changing market landscape, Inchcape said it is in continuous talks with various global brands. The company hinted that it may bring in another new brand to the Philippines soon, but was not at liberty to say as negotiations are still ongoing. With much of the discussion revolving around Chinese automotive brands and how they are currently steering the market, it is very likely that Inchcape’s next brand may very well be another Chinese one too.
While CDJR is no longer part being distributed by Inchcape in the Philippines, it continues to partner with Stellantis in other markets.
