DAVAO CITY – The Liga ng mga Barangay has expanded the "Libreng Sakay para sa Edukasyon" program here by distributing 12 more service vehicles to schools.
Councilor January Duterte, president of the Liga ng mga Barangay, said these will be deployed in the city's three districts to provide free, safe, and reliable transportation for students, especially in far-flung communities.
"Education should be accessible to all. Dili dapat mahimong babag ang kakulang sa pamasahe para makaskwela ang atong mga kabataan (Lack of transportation fare should never be a barrier to our children's education)," Duterte said.
Duterte said 26 vehicles have been distributed under the program.
She said the initiative allows learners to focus on their education instead of their daily commute.
Beneficiaries from the first, second, and third districts welcomed the expansion of the program.
The Libreng Sakay para sa Edukasyon program is part of the Liga ng mga Barangay's efforts to support inclusive education and improve access to learning opportunities for underprivileged students in Davao City.
