Armed robber killed, 1 arrested in Makati police chase
A police chase involving two motorcycle-riding robbers ended in a shootout, leaving one suspect dead and the other arrested in Makati City on Monday, July 13.

According to the Makati City Police Station, the chase began when two robbery suspects fled on a motorcycle after robbing a female victim along Apolinario Street in Barangay Bangkal at around 10:20 p.m.
Police officers conducting an intelligence-driven operation nearby heard the victim shouting for help, prompting them to pursue the fleeing suspects.
During the chase, the suspects allegedly opened fire on the pursuing officers, who returned fire.
The robbers later lost control of their vehicle and fell to the ground at the corner of Apolinario and Tinio Streets.
One suspect, identified as “Kenneth,” was wounded by gunfire and transported to Ospital ng Makati for medical treatment. While the other suspect, alias "Onyok," was rushed to St. Claire Hospital in Barangay Palanan but was declared dead on arrival.
The investigation team of the Makati City Police Station promptly responded to the scene and recovered the stolen jewelry from the suspects, including a bangle worth P15,000 and a bracelet valued at P10,000.
Also recovered from the suspects were a 9mm pistol loaded with six rounds of ammunition, a 9mm revolver loaded with five rounds of ammunition, a sling bag, three cellular phones, a backpack containing an MK2 fragmentation grenade, various documents, two helmets, and three fired 9mm cartridge cases.
Further investigation confirmed that the two suspects were involved in a series of criminal activities in Makati and nearby cities.
Authorities said charges of robbery, violation of Republic Act No. 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act), and violation of Republic Act No. 9516 (Illegal Possession of Explosives) are being prepared against the surviving suspect.
Meanwhile, Makati City Mayor Nancy Binay commended the Makati CPS for its bravery and swift response to the incident.

Lubos akong nagpapasalamat sa kapulisan ng Makati sa inyong katapangan, mabilis na aksyon, at walang sawang paglilingkod sa ating komunidad (We want our city to remain peaceful and safe. Binay also reminded the public to remain vigilant and immediately report suspicious activities or crimes to the police to help ensure a safer Makati.
