A casino pit supervisor is facing a qualified theft complaint after he allegedly credited nearly 9,900 gaming points to inactive player accounts at a casino in Quezon City.
The Quezon City Police District - Project 6 Police Station identified the suspect as “Jovim,” 33. He was arrested on Monday, July 13 at a hotel in Barangay Bagong Pag-asa after the casino management reported the alleged irregularities.
Police said the case stemmed from an internal investigation after the casino detected suspicious gaming activities.
Investigators alleged that CCTV footage showed the suspect encoding the SRC account numbers of Diamond-tier patrons and assigning player ratings despite the absence of actual gaming activity.
Authorities also found that the gaming tables under his supervision were already closed when the entries were made, making it unlikely that the patrons had legitimately earned the points.
The investigation showed that inactive player accounts received nearly 9,900 gaming points within two hours, potentially allowing the account holders to claim player rewards and other privileges without legitimate play.
The complainant said pit supervisors are not authorized to assign player ratings unless patrons are actively playing at the gaming tables.
Police said the suspect will face charges for qualified theft under Article 310 of the Revised Penal Code.
