A 43-year-old man linked to the killing of a motorcycle taxi rider, a robbery, and an earlier carnapping incident was arrested in Barangay Longos, Malabon City, on Tuesday, July 14.
The Malabon City Police Station (MCPS) said the suspect was allegedly involved in the fatal stabbing of a 46-year-old motorcycle taxi rider identified as “Fabio” in Barangay 20, Caloocan City, at around 1:30 a.m.
Police said the suspect allegedly stabbed the rider several times with an ice pick before fleeing with the victim’s motorcycle.
Authorities said the same suspect later robbed another man in Barangay Longos at around 4:30 a.m. on the same day.
Residents in the area helped stop the suspect, leading to his arrest.
Recovered from him were the motorcycle allegedly taken from the slain rider and the ice pick believed to have been used in the killing.
MCPS chief Col. Kenneth Mission said the suspect was also allegedly involved in a carnapping incident in Malabon on Saturday, July 11.
Mission added that the suspect allegedly carried out the crimes during late-night and early-morning hours.
The suspect will face charges for carnapping, robbery, and homicide.
Police reminded motorcycle riders and the public, especially those traveling or working late at night, to remain vigilant and immediately report suspicious activities.
