Toyota Motor Philippines (TMP) has confirmed that our market will definitely get the GR GT, Toyota’s new supercar model that could rival the likes of Ferraris and Lamborghinis. The GR GT is not the successor to the GR Supra, but rather an entirely new model positioned even higher than the brand’s former halo sports car.
The revelation was made during a press conference held during the second leg of the Toyota Gazoo Racing Philippine Cup race weekend. TMP Senior Vice President for marketing, Sherwin Chua Lim, confirmed the special model’s planned local release.
Toyota’s new supercar
The GR GT was developed by Gazoo Racing and is intended to be a clean sheet design, to build the ultimate Toyota supercar.
The car is built from an all-aluminum space frame chassis wrapped in carbon fiber reinforced plastic body panels. It will be powered by a new 4.0-liter twin turbo V8 with a transaxle-integrated single motor hybrid system. The hybrid configuration produces a combined output of 641-horsepower and 850-Newton-meters of torque. All that power will travel through an eight-speed automatic transmission and drive the rear wheels. Inside is a two-seater cabin with heavily bolstered Recaro bucket seats and a driver-centric dashboard layout.
The car is still under development. While it may have been previewed to the public already, it is set for an official launch in 2027. Like we mentioned earlier, this is not a GR Supra successor, but on an entirely different level on its own. As such, the price will likely be much higher. Estimates by experts put the GR GT’s possible price at around US$200,000 (P12 million). With taxes and duties applied, it may even go as high as P14—P16 million. This is only speculation, the exact price will be announced closer to the official launch date.
Very limited stock
As such, Chua-Lim said Toyota will only bring in just a handful of examples. Toyota also wants this special vehicle to go to owners who will cherish and keep the vehicle and not simply sell it for a profit. The GR GT will be offered exclusively at Toyota GR Performance – certified dealerships.
