- Television host Wally Bayola came under fire on social media after a video of him with 14-year-old content creator Sofia Alizee Schafers went viral. The teenager later defended Bayola, saying there was nothing inappropriate about their interaction.
Television host and comedian Wally Bayola has found himself at the center of online criticism after a video of him giving a shoutout to a teenage content creator sparked malicious speculation on social media, prompting the young influencer to publicly defend him.
The controversy stemmed from a video posted by 14-year-old model and content creator Sofia Alizee Schafers, known online as "Ilokanang Tisay," in which Bayola encouraged viewers to support her social media platforms.
In the clip, Bayola described Sofia as "a very kind child" before urging his followers to "follow, subscribe and everything."
While many users viewed the interaction as a routine show of support, others left insinuating comments, with some reviving Bayola's widely publicized 2013 controversy involving the unauthorized circulation of an intimate video.
Sofia responded directly to the remarks, criticizing what she described as unfounded assumptions about both herself and the veteran comedian.
"His reputation is not my responsibility. I carry my own name. Keep my name out of your assumptions," she wrote in a social media post.
The aspiring actress also reminded commenters that she is only 14 years old, calling out what she said was the ease with which some people pass judgment without knowing the facts.
"Some of y'all are way too comfortable judging people without knowing the facts. I'm not even related to this guy, so stop making assumptions," she added.
In a separate post, Sofia said Bayola treated her with kindness during their encounter and even encouraged her to prioritize her education if she decides to pursue acting.
"He even told me that even if I become an actress, I should never give up my studies. My biggest achievement will be my diploma and education," she wrote, contrasting her experience with what she described as the online "intriga" surrounding the video.
She also made it clear that she has no intention of taking down the post despite the criticism.
As of posting, Bayola and his representatives had not issued a statement addressing the issue.
