BACOLOD CITY – A 31-year-old soldier and his 28-year-old wife were killed during an altercation in their house in Barangay 3 here on Sunday, July 12.
Police Lt. Conan Gadayan, officer-in-charge of Police Station 2, identified the victims as Private First Class Paul and Leonora.
Investigation said Leonora confronted Paul over her father-in-law’s alleged pervert acts towards her younger sister.
A heated argument erupted where they grappled with a firearm. Two gunshots rang out, with the second hitting Paul’s head.
Paul’s father heard the gunshots and saw his son wounded. He took a knife and stabbed Leonora multiple times. The couple was declared dead in a hospital.
Paul’s father was arrested in a follow-up operation and admitted during interrogation that he stabbed Leonora due to an emotional outburst.
Police said initial investigation showed that the incident was a case of accidental firing.
Recovered from the house was Paul’s service firearm – a Glock 17 9mm pistol.
Paul, assigned to the Army 11th Infantry Battalion (IB) based in Siaton, Negros Oriental, was officially on leave from work when the incident happened.
