A severed head was found in a vacant lot in Barangay Cansojong, Talisay City, Cebu over the weekend.
Lawmen are determining if the severed head belonged to that of a woman who was reported missing by her relatives. It was found by a scavenger past 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 11.
A few hours later, a headless body was also found several meters from the area where the severed head was discovered.
The severed head and headless body were already in the state of decomposition, making it difficult to identify her, police said.
Police said the discovery of the human remains came after the disappearance of a 48-year-old woman was reported to the police.
The missing person was identified Pilar Basilio, who worked as a stay-in caregiver in Barangay San Isidro, Talisay.
The daughter of Basilio told the police that her last communication with her mother was last July 4, the day that she left her employer’s house and did not return. The woman’s employer reported her disappearance last July 6.
Basilio’s relatives have undergone buccal swab to be used for DNA testing to determine if the recovered remains belong to the missing woman.
